A distro or distributions are versions that are derived based on the popular Linux operating system. in a simple way it distributes a software package. All distributions frequently released with some of the modifications in packages and the  Graphical user interface components as an update in Linux OS.
Example: Debian, Ubuntu, Suse.
all distributions are different in terms of packages, supported configuration, license, GUI, Kernel, GNU tool.

Linux is a lightweight OS
Provides fast booting support on minimal system hardware

As we already know that the Linux is a lightweight OS.it
provides fast booting support on minimal system hardware.
To install Linux on different hardware minimal system. requirements are listed below-

Minimum system requirements for successful installation of Linux distro:

Processor architecture requirement:

X86(32-bit) processor

Minimum Processor requirement:

1.0 GHz to 2.4 GHz processor
1.Intel Pentium-4:
single-core processor ability to run all Linux apps and games without any performance problem.
2.Intel dual-core:
It is with two cores to provide fast Linux apps execution with a multiprocessing ability.
3.AMD-K7, K8:
It supports the installation of X86 and X64 bit operating systems.

Minimum Hard disk(HDD) memory requirement:

Adequate storage space of size  8GB to 20GB is required to mount a complete Linux file system.

Minimum Random access memory(RAM) requirement:

To speed up the processing and application installation, RAM must be as maximum as possible.
RAM size should be either 1GB or 4GB.

Desktop monitor screen resolution:

VGA monitor with 1024x768 resolution

CD/DVD drive:

To install Linux distributions using CD/DVDs.

Internet connection:

It is optional to download the required packages and updates during the installation.

For effective installation of Linux-based distributions, users need to create file system partitions on the existing system hard disk on which the user wants to install the Operating system.

Following are the required partitions:

1]root: it is the starting file directory that stores all the files for booting the Linux operating system.
2]boot: It holds kernel executable and bootloader module to boot a Linux operating system.
3]bin: It stores binary executable files.
4]dev: It keeps the peripheral device's information connected to the Linux operating system.
5]etc: It keeps local configuration files for Linux OS installed system.
6]home: It holds user-created files.
7]lib: It stores shared libraries for the Linux OS booting process.
8]media: It allows to attach removable media devices to the Linux OS installed system.
9]mnt: Linux file system loads from this mount point.
10]sbin: It stores Linux system binary executable files.
11]tmp: It holds temporary data created during process execution.
12]var: It handles the processes logs data files.
13]usr: It stores read-only documentation files.
